Families Against Breed Bans, or FABB, was put together by three like minded women who needed a way to organize the fight against Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). The meetup is centered around pit bulls but is open to anyone who wishes to join us in this battle. First, THE RULES:
1. THIS IS NOT A PRO FIGHTING GROUP. We are STRONGLY AGAINST any form of animal abuse, including dog fighting. Any profiles, comments or other form of communication indicating an interest in fighting will be immediately reported to the proper authorities. NO WARNINGS!
2. This group is not to be used to sell or rehome your dog. On that note, we also ask that members refrain from posting about shelter dogs that need saving. While we all have a soft spot in our hearts for dogs, and especially pitties, none of the organizers are qualified to assess an unknown dog's temperment. To attempt to do so without proper training could easily result in a harmful situation for the dog and/or the owners. Instead of using the board, feel free to privately e-mail the organizers and we will help try to find a rescue that is qualified.
3. This group is not a breeding board. We are advocates of rescue and adoption. Any individual looking to provide or receive bitch/stud service in this group will be given two warnings. Failure to comply will result in the deletion of the membership.
4. We ask that, for the most part, our members keep the public conversation centered around BSL. We love hearing stories of when your dog has a "break through" in training or anything else so feel free to post something you are excited about. When posting something unrelated to BSL, please just have the replies sent to your personal e-mail rather than the list.
5. The organizers reserve the right to terminate any memberships with or without notifying the member whose membership is being removed from the group for partaking in any activities which threatens the safety of other members in the group, or which undermines the the core values of our group.
CORE VALUES:
Promoting Responsible Dog Ownership
Supporting Rescues and Adoption
Promoting Spay and Neuter
Finding Alternatives to Breed Specific Legislation That Targets All Breeds and All Dog Owners
Educating the Public on Pit Bulls, Responsible Pit Bull Ownership, and the Pit Falls of Breed Specific Legislation
Fighting Animal Abuse and Dogfighting

Whew. That's done with. On to the next topic: MEETINGS
At this point in time, FABB is not organizing meetings with dogs for multiple reasons. One, it is very difficult to concentrate with many unintroduced dogs in one area. Two, the organizers firmly believe that the number one rule to pit bull ownership is "Never trust your pit bull not to fight". Number two rule: "a pit bull may not start a fight but chances are, it will end it." After all, dog aggression was bred into them. This does not mean that all pit bulls have it but it does make for a greater likelihood. Add to that the fact that it does not matter if another breed started the fight, in the media and those witnesses that believe the negative hype, the pittie will always be blamed. The conclusion: pit bulls are very much in the public eye right now and any incident, no matter how minor, is a mark against all pit bull (and other "dangerous dog") owners so it is better to avoid the potential.
Thank you for your interest in the group and we hope to hear from you soon!
